How the world works

Credits and barcodes

Mother covers the basics for everyone. That means housing, food, and care at the repair facilities. Little else is free.

Everything beyond the basics is earned by contribution. Every ball is created with a barcode on the inside of its wrist, linked to an account of sorts. The credits in it depend on how the ball has contributed to the community, in any number of ways.

Balls who play in the games earn credits, and the higher the number, the more they can earn. Credits can be gifted to other balls, and invested.

Visitors may or may not have barcodes. Under Mother's Industrial Charter, they can earn credits by contributing resources the community needs.

The barcode is separate from the four-digit form-up code that numbered balls carry.
