- Glimmer's home Far less glamorous than her public life. She cares for her mother here. 1 scene
- Sly's home Sly was born numbered to unnumbered parents, a rare case. 1 scene
- Gasket's garage Packed so full it's about to burst. Gasket hoards almost everything. 1 scene
- The school One campus for every ball at every level. Numbered and unnumbered balls study side by side, from brand-new balls at their first class to higher-education students across campus. 8 scenes
- The way to school The short walk Zero takes, since he lives close. 1 scene
- City streets The walk home after the draw. 1 scene
- Chamber of Draws Where the games are drawn, all day long. The Zeros' game, the Pick 4, draws at 7:00 PM. 4 scenes
- Downtown Where information about the monarchy is bought and sold, if you know who to ask. 6 scenes
- The diner by the old tracks A nice diner tourists never visit, beside railroad tracks left behind when the trams came. Mother has no ears in here. 3 scenes
- The tram The city's transit line, with a first-class section. It replaced the old trains, whose tracks were never removed. 4 scenes
- Lucky Lantern Park A park of lanterns, where families bring their kids. Mother doesn't monitor it, for privacy. 10 scenes
- The repair facility Aurelia Coast's version of a hospital. 2 scenes
- Founders' Ruins Unstable ruins whose walls and ceilings are known to crumble. Mother can't see inside. Officially, closed for restoration. 9 scenes
- Court of Rituals A large circular court in the Royal District, with tall pillars and runes across colored stones. Mother acts through the pillars. 1 scene
- The dock Where ships come in. Balls can't swim, but they can sail. 1 scene
- Royal District Home of the monarchy and the Court of Rituals. The Changing of the Kingsmen happens here every Thursday at noon, and the Founders' Day Parade sets out from here on the first Sunday of each month. 1 scene
- Industrial Ring The city's industry, and Mother's power. Her geothermal system sits inside the ring, well into the hills. On Wednesday nights, Gears After Dark opens Core Tower Three's observation deck late. Not in a scene yet
- Celestial Observatory Where Nova goes after the draw to watch the night sky. Every Tuesday night is Open Telescope Night, with the docent's whisper-listening program. 1 scene
- Citizen Commons Home of Holloway Field, where kids play soccer every Sunday. The Founders' Day Parade ends here. Not in a scene yet
- Starlight Boardwalk District The Draw Watch Party shows the Pick 4 on a giant screen every evening, with music after. Thursdays bring free chips and salsa. Not in a scene yet
- Aqua Paradise District Every morning the tide pools open for Shallow Splash. Stay behind the yellow line; balls can't swim. Not in a scene yet
- The Underbelly Not part of the official visitor circuit. Captain grew up here. Not in a scene yet
How the world works
Mother, numbers, marks and the rest.
- Mother Aurelia Coast's operating system. She runs the games, makes new balls, and sees almost everything. 13 scenes
- The games Draws run all day in the Chamber of Draws. The Zeros play the Pick 4, every evening at 7:00 PM. 12 scenes
- Numbers Only a precious few balls carry a number, from 0 to 70, and only one plays each number at a time. 17 scenes
- Forming up Every numbered ball has a four-digit code that turns it into the perfect sphere the games need. 12 scenes
- Gifts Every numbered ball has a unique gift. Some find theirs early; some never do. 9 scenes
- Marks The realm's highest honor. A mark replaces the number etched on a ball. 5 scenes
- Red balls Made with thermite. At the right temperature, a red ball doesn't melt. It explodes. 6 scenes
- The Kingsmen The monarchy's guards, armored and serious, led by the King's Captain. 9 scenes
- The monarchy The King, the Queen and the realm's marked leaders. 7 scenes
- The spirits Dark, faceless figures that come through tears in the world. 2 scenes
- Tears and the breach Openings in reality. The first came at Lucky Lantern Park; the largest, in the Founders' Ruins. 8 scenes
