Marks

A mark is the realm's highest honor. Mother awards one, typically after a ball does something selfless that affects the whole community. Mother can decide on and create marks, and the King can award them too. Any numbered ball can potentially earn any mark.

A mark replaces the number etched on the ball, but the ball is usually still called by its number. A marked ball can still form up.

The realm's leaders are marked, typically the monarchy. The King, the Queen and state leaders were each once numbered.

There are no posthumous marks.

Marks are not badges. Badges are things like the ones Scout wears.

Marks known so far: the mark of Wisdom, which the previous King took from Arturo and the current King restored, and the mark of flight, which Zero awakened in the Founders' Ruins.
